By introducing students to independent research, science and engineering fairs support the core of STEM education as well as develop writing, speaking, critical-thinking and organizational skills. All of this happens in a supportive environment with a teacher and/or adult mentor such as an industry professional or scientist.
The purpose of WiSEF is to provide financial and networking support for BSSEF, the Badger State Science and Engineering Fair. BSSEF is held every year and is one of three fairs in the state of Wisconsin. Finalists are sent to compete at the international level at Regeneron ISEF (formerly Intel ISEF). Our goal is to send the best projects and students from Wisconsin to the international fair every year.
Charitable Giving
100% of donations directly support BSSEF and sending students to compete at the international fair. We welcome private donors, families, organizations, companies, and other non-profits interested in advancing STEM education in Wisconsin. Any amount is appreciated and there are opportunities before, during, and after the fair. Please see our BSSEF Sponsor page for more information.
In-Kind Donations
We gladly accept in-kind donations to help defray the costs to operate the fair. Our events include presentations, audio/video equipment, lighting, guest speakers, catering, promotional items, printed materials, t-shirts, awards and plaques, and more. Please contact us if you are interested in becoming an in-kind sponsor.
Volunteer
We are always looking for volunteers to help plan, promote, and run the fair. Your participation may be as little as one day per year or as much as several hours each month. We need judges, advisors, committee members, support staff, guest speakers, and organizers. Working with students and sponsors is a highly rewarding experience. Our volunteers have built a diverse, talented community of educators, researchers, engineers, scientists, and leaders to promote STEM education and recognize exceptional students and their projects. It should come as no surprise that many of our generous volunteers return again and again; some having been involved for more than a decade. Click here to get started.
